Change orders, line items and creatives

Every change here is sent to your live Amazon DSP advertiser. All of them except one are shown to you before they are sent: the status switch on a row sends as soon as you click it.

Sending needs all of these. When one is missing, the App says which:

Requirement If it is missing
DSP Manager · Edit on this seller “You need Amazon DSP Edit permission on this seller, and sending must be on for its DSP advertiser.” The actions stay visible but locked
Sending switched on for the advertiser — it is on by default “Sending to Amazon is off for this advertiser.”
The emergency stop is not active “Emergency stop is active. An admin must enable writes first.”
A connection, plan and runtime that allow live sending “Live sending isn’t available for this seller right now (connection, plan or runtime).”

Inline edits, the Edit column and the status switch are not offered to someone who cannot send.

The Status switch on an order, line item or creative row enables or pauses it in Amazon DSP the moment you click it, as in Ads Manager. There is no review step. Enabling can start spending right away.

Only rows that are Enabled or Paused have a switch.

Select rows, then choose an action from the bar above the table. Up to 50 rows at a time.

Level Actions
Orders Enable · Pause · Set budget cap · Frequency limit · Flights
Line items Enable · Pause · Spending limit · Pacing · Frequency limit · Max bid
Creatives Enable · Pause · Add to line items · Remove from line items

With DSP Automation · Edit, the bar also offers Objective on Orders and Exclude on Orders and Line items. They change DSP Automation’s settings in Vendlen and send nothing to Amazon DSP, so they are not locked when sending is — see Objectives, orders and exclusions.

  • Set budget cap sets the order’s daily and monthly caps. They apply to the whole order, across all its flights; leave both empty for no cap.
  • Flights edits an order’s existing flights and adds new ones. Flights cannot be removed.
  • Spending limit applies to Standard line items only. Performance+ line items in the selection are skipped: “Skipped (Performance+ has no spending limit)”.
  • Enable and Pause on a creative change it on every line item that uses it.
  • Enable and Pause skip anything that is not Enabled or Paused.

For settings changes, “Vendlen reads each line item from Amazon DSP, shows exactly what changes, then sends one request per line item.” Orders work the same way.

Each row in the review is marked Will change, No change, Can’t send or Skipped, and Show n requests lists what will go to Amazon.

  • Nothing is sent until every row is valid. Fix or remove the rows marked Can’t send first.
  • A stale review is refused. If something changed in Amazon DSP after you reviewed it, nothing is sent: “Some line items changed in Amazon DSP after you reviewed them. Go back and review the changes again.”

Requests are sent one at a time. “If one fails, the rest are still sent; each result is shown afterwards.” Each row ends as Accepted, No change, Skipped, Rejected, Not sent, Partly applied or Not confirmed — check after the next sync.

Amazon accepting a change is not the end of it: “The next sync confirms the new values.”

Add to line items and Remove from line items work on creative–line item pairs: up to 50 line items and 200 pairs in one action.

  • A creative already on a line item stays as it is; one removed earlier is turned back on.
  • Removing pauses the creative on those line items only. Nothing is deleted, and it keeps running elsewhere. Add it again to resume.
  • Adding to a running line item can start spending straight away. The review warns which pairs go live right away: “the order, line item and creative are all Enabled, so spend can start as soon as Amazon accepts.” Attaching a creative to a paused line item spends nothing.

Some values can be changed in the cell. Each opens a small window showing the current value.

Level Editable in the table
Orders Name · Daily cap · Monthly cap (leave a cap empty to remove it)
Line items Name · Max bid (a CPM, or Auto) · Budget cap · Frequency

Use the Edit button in the Actions column of an order. Vendlen loads the order from Amazon DSP and opens the same form as the builder, with its current settings.

Save changes lists each setting as Now and New before you choose Update in Amazon DSP. The update is sent in steps — order settings, then added flights, then removed and added tracked products — and stops at the first one that fails. If only part reaches Amazon, the App names what was applied and asks you to sync and check the order before trying again.

  • Existing flights cannot be removed. A running flight’s start date is locked, and a completed flight cannot be edited.
  • Edit Order can remove an order’s tracked products. For some orders it cannot read them, and says “Tracked products can’t be edited here for this order. Manage them in Amazon DSP.”
  • If the order changed in Amazon DSP after you opened it, close Edit and open it again.

The same Edit button on a line item changes its name, product categories, max bid, line item budget, budget allocation, spending limit, daily minimum spend, bidding priority, pacing, frequency, and start and end dates.

Targeting is not edited here: “Amazon DSP can’t change a target once it exists, and removing one archives it. Change targeting in Amazon DSP.” A line item’s media type cannot be changed after it is created.

  • Delete or archive an order, line item or creative. Pause it instead.
  • Edit or remove targeting after it is sent. Change it in Amazon DSP.
  • Remove a flight.
  • Set the base bid. Amazon sets it; you change the max bid.

Changes sent from Vendlen to the fields Change history tracks — name, status, dates, budget cap, flights, frequency, goal, bids, spending limit, pacing and creative assignments — are recorded with who sent them, or with the rule that sent them for changes made by DSP Automation. Tracked-product and targeting changes are not listed. See DSP Change history.
