Connection problems
Connections fail in two ways, and they look different.
Cleanly, or quietly
Section titled “Cleanly, or quietly”Cleanly — the connection reports disconnected. Obvious, and covered in Why am I disconnected from Amazon?
Quietly — the connection still reports connected, but nothing new is arriving. This is the one that costs people weeks, because everything looks fine.
The signal is the latest-data date. If it has stopped moving, the connection is failing whatever the badge says. Check it before anything else.
For SP-API, a non-zero error count on the last sync is the equivalent signal: part of the catalog did not arrive.
Which one dropped?
Section titled “Which one dropped?”The two connections are independent and fail separately.
| Down | Effect |
|---|---|
| Amazon Ads | No advertising data. Rules have nothing to evaluate; the AI Analyst has nothing new to read |
| SP-API | No product or sales data. Advertising keeps arriving, but the economics behind it go stale |
A seller card showing one connected and one not is the normal shape of this problem.
Repairing it
Section titled “Repairing it”Follow the same order as the first time: Amazon Ads, then SP-API. See Connect your Amazon account.
Two mistakes to avoid, both easy and both confusing to unpick:
- When Amazon Ads asks you to select the seller, select the same one. A different choice attaches this profile to a different Amazon account.
- Select the intended seller profile before choosing Connect SP-API, so the authorization is attached to the right Amazon account.
If it keeps dropping
Section titled “If it keeps dropping”Repeated drops are usually caused on the Seller Central side rather than in Vendlen:
- The authorization belongs to a particular Seller Central user. If their permissions change, the connection can no longer sync.
- Changes to an Amazon authorization can invalidate the connection. Reconnect to authorize access again.
- Account-level changes on Amazon can invalidate existing authorizations.
Check whose authorization it is, and whether that person’s access is stable.
There is a clock
Section titled “There is a clock”Amazon-derived data is permanently deleted within 25 days after the Amazon connection is disconnected or authorization is revoked. Reconnecting inside that window keeps your history; after it, the account starts again.
If you are disconnected and not sure when it happened, treat it as urgent rather than something to look at next month.
Still failing?
Section titled “Still failing?”If you have re-granted access in Seller Central and reconnecting still fails, get in touch with which connection is affected, when it last worked, and any error Amazon showed during the authorization.
