Your first week
Connecting an account does not fill it immediately. Here is what is actually happening, so an empty screen on day one reads as normal rather than broken.
Data arrives before conclusions do
Section titled “Data arrives before conclusions do”Advertising history has to be pulled from Amazon Ads and the catalog synced from SP-API. How long that takes depends on the size of the account.
Two things to watch on the Connections tab while it runs:
- The latest-data date moving forward.
- The SP-API sync reporting zero errors on its listings.
If either stalls, see Missing or delayed data.
Why the AI Analyst is quiet at first
Section titled “Why the AI Analyst is quiet at first”It is not waiting for a schedule. It is waiting for evidence.
The Analyst compares consecutive periods to find targets that broke their own pattern. On a freshly connected account there are no earlier periods to compare against yet, so there is nothing to say — and saying nothing is the correct answer rather than a failure. See How the analysis works.
The same is true of Automation: most triggers need a window of history, and a rule reading an empty window will skip every target.
What to do meanwhile
Section titled “What to do meanwhile”Set up your Product Lines. This is the highest-value thing you can do in week one, and it needs no data at all. Everything the Analyst concludes depends on the context you write there, and a thin Product Line produces thin recommendations however much history arrives later.
Enter your cost of goods. Without it every profit figure is missing its largest deduction.
Group your variants. Product Groups decide what counts as evidence for what, and grouping them now means the evidence is dense from the start.
Read Core concepts. Twenty minutes here saves a lot of confusion later, especially decision scope and the Data Window.
What not to do yet
Section titled “What not to do yet”Do not enable a set of rules at once. Enable one, check Preview Changes to see what it will do at its next run, and read Change History afterwards to see what it did. Then add the next.
Do not judge the first days’ numbers. Amazon’s attribution keeps arriving for days after a click, so recent figures understate results and will move on their own.
When it starts being useful
Section titled “When it starts being useful”Roughly in this order: the account fills, Automation has enough window to evaluate against, and the Analyst accumulates enough consecutive periods to notice a pattern break.
If something looks wrong rather than merely empty, start at Troubleshooting.
